Signs That You Need To Have Your Roof Replaced

October 14, 2019

Why You Might Need a Roof Replacement

Over time a roof’s structural integrity will start degrading because of many factors. The worst part is that you might not even realize that your roof has degraded until an accident occurs. May it be a waterfall in your living room or your roof sinking into your kitchen stove, being caught unprepared can be a disaster.

Excessive Leaks and Water Stains

This your number one enemy when trying to maintain your roof. More than a few of these can easily cause your roof to degrade faster than normal. Frequent rain can easily punch a few holes in your roof and simply putting a bucket under the leak is a terrible way to remedy the problem. Some leaks aren’t easy to find, however. This is where the water stains come in handy

Despite being a problem that you’d rather not have, water stains can help you find elusive leaks. Just follow the trail and you’re likely to find one at the end of the trail.

Damage Over Time

As your roof ages, it’s bound to face a multitude of problems like leaks, pests, and missing pieces. This takes a toll on the integrity of your roof. The wood is beginning to weaken and rot or the metal parts are starting to rust all the while you try to extend its life by a few more years by plugging up that hole again for the eighth time. Some problems just can’t be patched up anymore and doing so will only waste your time and money.

A Sinking Roof

Your roof sinking into your living room is a huge red flag that you should be considering a roof replacement in the future. It poses a huge risk to your home since that section of your roof could easily collapse on top of you and anything you own. At best, it will drench the inside of your home and at worst it can end in someone having to be dug out of a pile of roof rubble.

Your Roof Is Old

As was said earlier, most roofs last a maximum of thirty years. If your roof is starting to reach this age, then it might be best for you to start scheduling a roof replacement soon. At this age, most roofs start showing the other signs like sinking and leaks. If you have to replace your roof before your roof has reached its twentieth birthday, then it’s either due to extreme neglect or your contractor didn’t do the job properly.
